We're planning a big night out, but I'm obsessed with finding the absolute best noodle soup in the area beforehand, I've heard whispers of legendary bowls, the kind that'll make you weep with joy (in a good way, of course). Any recommendations for a truly unforgettable noodle soup experience before the main event? I'm open to anything authentic and delicious. Seriously, I'm willing to travel a bit, this is important!!

honestly just skip the tourist spots and head to Baan Somtum's boat noodles on Sukhumvit Soi 11, their broth is dark and rich like nothing else Ive had in bangkok. it's a 15 minute walk from Thuyen but totally worth it, get the pork version with extra crispy pork rinds on top. the bowls are small so order two or three, thats what the locals do. if you want something lighter theres a stall near the Tha Phra intersection that does tom yum noodle soup with shrimp, its like 60 baht and hits different after a couple beers

oh man if you want unforgettable, hit up the kuay teow luk chin pla at the little stall inside the Wang Lang market. it's a quick ferry ride from thuyen across the river, the fishball noodles are handmade and bouncy af with this light clear broth that tastes like the ocean. it's like 40 baht and the old lady running it has been doing it for like 50 years, the line moves fast and you can get a beer from the shop next door to pregame

I'd head to Guay Tiew Kua Gai on Soi Texas near Saphan Khwai. It's about a 15 minute taxi from Thuyen but they do this dry stir-fried noodle soup with chicken that's completely different from the usual broth-based bowls. The noodles get this charred, smoky flavor from the wok and they top it with a runny egg and crispy wonton skins. It's been around for 40 years and the owner's daughter still makes the broth from scratch every morning. Get there before 2pm though, they sell out most days.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
