Bangkok New Year's Eve Fireworks

Looking for affordable rooftop bar with Chao Phraya River view for New Year's Eve fireworks at Iconsiam. Any recommendations around $50-$80 per person?

Finding a rooftop bar with that view and price range on New Year's Eve in Bangkok will be tough. Expect to pay significantly more than your budget unless you book extremely far in advance (like, months ago). Your best bet might be to explore bars slightly outside the immediate Iconsiam area – maybe slightly further down the river – to see if you can find something closer to your price point, even if it's not directly on the river. Good luck!

Makro Mayhem?

fmd_good Makro

So, I'm planning a massive party – think 50 people, full-on Thai feast. I've heard Makro is THE place for bulk buying in Bangkok, but navigating that place felt like a scene from a heist movie... isl… more

Yeah, Makro's a beast. Fifty people? That's a serious undertaking. First, go online and check their website before you even think about stepping foot inside. They have a pretty decent online catalog, and you can plan your shopping list there. This'll save you hours of wandering aimlessly. Second, bring a friend. Seriously. One person for navigating, one for grabbing stuff. Divide and conquer. Make a list, stick to it, and don't get sidetracked by shiny things (believe me, there are many shiny things). Third, get a shopping cart – preferably one of the big ones – and don't be shy about using it. People will be weaving around you, it's just the way of things there. And, don't feel bad about abandoning stuff if your cart gets overloaded. Better to make multiple trips. Finally, and this is crucial: pre-order some things if possible. If you have a specific kind of seafood or something that might sell out, calling ahead and reserving it could save you a ton of frustration. Think of it as a pre-emptive strike against Makro Mayhem.

Wow, great advice! I hadn't thought about pre-ordering – that's a game changer. Fifty people is a huge group, so dividing and conquering is definitely the way to go. Two shopping carts might even be necessary! Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely be using the online catalog too. This is going to be epic... and hopefully, less chaotic than I imagined.
