I've never left the US and honestly just need a huge refresh. Do you guys have any tips or offshoot things I should know? What I'm likely going to do is book an Airbnb for a month and then if I'm enjoying my time extend it to 2 months. Plan is to go sometime next year but I'm not sure which months are best in terms of weather, etc. I definitely want to go out and party, I'm sure there's some months out of the year that're better and worse for that. I wouldn't want to end up going in a dead time of year, if that exists. Also I have no idea what prices are like for food transportation a night out etc. but I'd like to go pretty comfortably & not have to think much about it. Going to research myself but any info on that would be great. Hoping to get a buddy to come with at least for some period of time but I'm sure I'd have a great time even by myself. Thanks. Edit: Budget would be maybe 5k usd or so not including air fare. Maybe quite a bit more depending on how work goes until then

yeah 5k usd for two months is plenty if you're not staying at some fancy condo in thong lo. you can get a decent studio near an bts station for like 400-600 usd a month if you look around, way cheaper than airbnb if you find a place directly or through a facebook group

honestly march through may is brutal heat wise, like 95 degrees with 90% humidity at noon. i'd aim for december or january if you can, it's still warm but way more bearable for walking around. songkran in april is fun but also chaos and everything is more expensive

for partying, you'll be fine any time of year honestly. rca and khao san road are always popping but if you want a more local scene check out the bars on sukhumvit soi 11 or around ari. a night out with a few drinks and club entry will run you like 30-50 usd if you're not doing bottles

one thing nobody tells you is that your bank might flag your card first time you use it in thailand so call them before you leave. also grab is way better than taxis at the airport cause those guys will try to scam you on the meter

November to March is generally considered the best time weather-wise, less rain and humidity. Bangkok's nightlife is pretty much always buzzing, but some months might have more specific events or festivals.

$5k USD for two months excluding airfare is doable if you're mindful. Food can be incredibly cheap (street food!) or upscale restaurant expensive. Transportation is easy and affordable with taxis, Grab (like Uber), and the BTS Skytrain. A night out can range from super budget-friendly to very pricey, depending on your choices. Airbnb prices fluctuate; booking in advance helps, especially during peak season. Don't worry too much about planning everything perfectly upfront, embrace the spontaneity! It's Bangkok; you'll figure it out.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
