Where to safely store temperature-sensitive medication in Bangkok while traveling?

Hi everyone,

I'm traveling through Southeast Asia and need advice about storing my temperature-sensitive medication in Bangkok. I'll be traveling to other countries during my trip but want to keep Bangkok as my base. The medication needs to be refrigerated at 2-8°C (36-46°F).

Does anyone know of:

Reliable medical storage facilities

Hospitals or clinics that offer medication storage services

Pharmacies with storage options

Any other legitimate storage solutions

I have all the proper prescriptions and documentation, and I am willing to pay for a reliable storage service. Looking for reputable and professional services only.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Edit: I'm planning to be away from Bangkok for about 2,5 months while traveling to Borneo if that helps with recommendations.

ngl if you're gonna be bouncing around borneo for 2.5 months I'd actually look at the storage service at St. Louis Hospital on Sathorn. they're a bit less flashy than the big international hospitals but their pharmacy handles long-term storage for missionaries and NGO workers who are out in the field for months at a time. they're used to people leaving stuff for way longer than 2.5 months and the pricing is more like 300-500 baht per month

another option nobody's mentioned yet is the Faculty of Pharmacy at Mahidol University on Sri Ayudhya Road. they have a clinical trial storage setup that's basically overkill for regular meds but they'll take private stuff if you ask nicely and show your docs. the staff are pharmacists not front desk people so they actually understand what 2-8 degrees means and won't just stick your meds in the door of a mini fridge

for something that specific temp range you definitely want a place that logs temps automatically. most hospital pharmacies here do that now but the smaller clinics might just have a sticker thermometer on the door which isn't great for 2.5 months

fwiw I'd check out the pharmacy at Siriraj Hospital on Thonburi side. it's one of the oldest and biggest in the country so their storage setup is legit - they handle meds for clinical trials and government projects all the time. prices are usually lower than the private hospitals since it's a public university hospital, maybe 200-400 baht per month. just be prepared for the crowds and give yourself extra time to find the pharmacy department, the campus is huge and kinda confusing

another spot is the Thai Red Cross Society on Rama IV road near the snake farm. they have a medication storage program for travelers that not many people know about. it's more of a drop-and-go setup compared to hospitals but they're super professional and the money goes to a good cause. bring your passport and prescriptions plus a clear note with your return date and contact info

for 2.5 months make sure wherever you go gives u a receipt with the storage temps listed. some places try to be helpful but just shove things in a regular fridge and that's not gonna cut it for 2-8 degree stuff

If you're based around Sukhumvit, check with the pharmacy at Samitivej Hospital on Sukhumvit 49. They handle medication storage for travelers and have a dedicated temperature-monitored system with backup power. I've seen them take insulin and other biologics for people doing long trips, and their storage area is separate from the regular pharmacy fridge so your stuff doesn't get bumped around.

Another option that's less obvious is MedConsult Clinic on Soi 49 as well. They're a smaller clinic but they work with a lot of expats and travelers who need to store meds between trips. Dr. Donna there is really thorough about documentation and they'll log temperature readings daily. It might run you a bit more than the big hospitals but the personal attention is worth it for something this important.

For 2.5 months you definitely want somewhere with a generator and 24-hour temperature monitoring. The smaller places lose power in Bangkok storms maybe once or twice a month during rainy season, and that's too risky for your meds.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
