No Name in Sala Daeng?

Staying in the area, and got a craving for these little snacks I remember from Koh Phangan in the '90s. Veg, chicken or whatever. All tips, also other areas are welcome. yeah those are probably the little fried spring rolls or maybe the crispy wonton skins they sell in bags. if you're stuck in sala daeng, the food court in silom complex has a stall that does decent ones, not street style but consistent. better bet is walking over to soi pipat near bang rak, there's a tiny shop that's been frying up the veg and chicken versions since before the BTS existed. they do a really good taro one that's hard to find elsewhere.

ngl you're prob thinking of those little fried wonton-style snacks or maybe the mini spring rolls they call por pia tod. sala daeng's a bit of a dead zone for that street food vibe but if you walk toward lumphini park side near the MRT entrance, there's a lady with a cart around 5pm selling those little bags of fried stuff, mostly veggie with glass noodles and corn. shes been there for years, real deal.

if you're up for a longer walk, head over to bang rak market on charoen krung soi 38, it's a 15 min walk from sala daeng and has a few stalls doing the old-school fried snacks, chicken and taro ones are good. way more local than anything near the BTS.

ah you mean the little fried stuff they sell on the street, like tod mun pla or those crispy spring roll things. sala daeng is actually pretty dead for that kind of street food honestly, too many office buildings and chain places. head over to sukhumvit soi 38, the old market there still has vendors selling those little bags of fried goodies, veg ones with taro and corn are solid. or if you're lazy and wanna stay close, walk to silom soi 20 around 6pm, there's a cart that does those little chicken skewers with the sweet chili dip, not exactly the same but scratches the itch.

best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
