Interesting neighbourhoods to walk around?

I've spent the last couple years living around Sukhumvit but I've got a hankering to explore some more 'traditional' neighbourhoods - any ideas? Chinatown? Dusit? Thonburi?

Thanks.

If you want something really different, take a walk through Banglamphu but skip Khao San Road entirely. The maze of tiny sois between Tanao Road and the river has old wooden houses, a few hidden temples, and the kind of local life you don't get in Sukhumvit. Grab a coffee at one of the artist-run spots near Phra Sumen Fort, it's a completely different pace.

Thonburi is good for a full day if you're up for it, but I'd suggest starting at Wat Arun and then just wandering east along the smaller sois instead of sticking to the main road. You'll find little canal-side markets that aren't in any guidebook, and the ferry crossings cost like 4 baht. Just watch your step on the wooden walkways when they're wet.

yer, Bang Rak is solid but lemme throw Talat Noi into the ring. its like a smaller grittier Chinatown right next to it, narrow sois crammed with engine repair shops and old clan shrines, plus there's a couple of spots where u can see the river through gaps in the buildings. start at the end of Charoen Krung 22 and just get lost, u'll hit a temple with a giant Buddha thats covered in gold leaf but nobody's around.

for something even sleepier head to Khlong Toei but not the market part, the residential bits further in off Rama IV. theres a network of raised concrete walkways over the khlongs that feel like a completely different city, kids fishing and grandmas selling grilled bananas from their doorsteps. its not pretty but its real, buses rumble past on the main road but ten meters in its dead quiet. just go before sunset cause the mosquitoes get aggressive.

honestly you should check out Bang Rak, not the riverfront tourist part but the side streets off Charoen Krung. there's this weird mix of old Portuguese architecture and shophouses that feels like time stopped in the 60s, plus the soi dogs are chill. also Thonburi's worth it if you take the canal boats from Sathorn pier, the khlongs are quieter than you'd expect for Bangkok and you'll see actual river houses on stilts. Dusit is nice for a bike ride but the palace area is kinda sterile. Chinatown is great at night but crowded af on weekends, go on a weekday morning for the best street food without the lines.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
