Hi All.

I'll be moving to Bangkok from the US in a little over a month. I was thinking of packing a suitcase full of toiletries (soap, razors, shaving cream, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, etc). I mean like 5 to 10 of each. It will go in a checked suitcase. Will this get through customs okay or is there a limit to how much I can bring?

Thanks for any advice!

honestly youll be totally fine, i brought like 30 bars of soap and a bunch of toothpaste when i moved and nobody batted an eye. customs here is pretty chill about personal stuff, just dont bring like 100 of the same thing or it might look like youre planning to sell it

You'll be fine with that amount. Thai customs are really looking for things like uncut gems, undeclared electronics over 20,000 baht, or commercial quantities of supplements. One thing worth knowing: if you're bringing any liquids over 100ml, keep them in checked bags. I've seen people get stopped at Suvarnabhumi for trying to carry bulk shampoo bottles in carry-on, but checked luggage rarely gets opened for toiletries. Just don't bring anything with cannabis or CBD in the ingredients, that's still a grey area here and customs can get weird about it.

yeah you'll probably be fine with toiletries for personal use, they're not gonna count 50 bars of soap as commercial or anything. just make sure everything's in original packaging and maybe keep the receipt handy if you're worried, but customs here is way more concerned about electronics and cash

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
