The next years I will be many times in Bangkok.

I let the car in Chanthaburi and will (try to) use the public transportation in Bangkok.

I have Grab, Bolt and Indrive, but in daytime, I will focus on Skytrain and Metro. (Busses, until now, no idea how to get out or on at the correct stop)

Skytrain is no problem, but I never took the metro.

My question is: If I buy the rabbit card for the Skytrain, can I use this card also for the Metro?

Some people say yes, others say, no. So, I better ask here.

I also need to take often the Airport link, but until now, everyone says, you cannot use the Rabbit card on the airport link. I assume that is correct?

nah the rabbit card only works for BTS skytrain and some shops at BTS stations. MRT metro uses its own system - you gotta get a separate card or just use the contactless payment on your phone if you have it set up. same for the airport link, no rabbit card there, you'll need a token or your credit card at the machine

honestly just get the MRT card if you're gonna be here a lot, it's like 50 baht for the card and you top it up at any station. or if you have a visa/mastercard with the contactless symbol you can tap straight through the gates now on the MRT and airport link, saves carrying extra cards

buses are actually easier than they look btw - just use the ViaBus app or google maps tells you the route number. get on at the front, pay the conductor, tell them where you're going and they'll tap u when its time to get off

yeah the other comments are right - rabbit card is strictly BTS only. for MRT you can either get their card or just use your phone's nfc with a supported card. the MRT card is worth it if you're here often, you can get it at any station counter

the airport link is separate too but honestly the easiest way there is just buying a token from the machine, takes 10 seconds. or if your phone has google wallet with a visa/mastercard that works too now

one thing nobody mentioned - if you're gonna be here multiple years, consider getting the MRT's monthly pass. it's a flat 1500 baht for unlimited rides on the blue and purple lines. works out if you're commuting daily. you need a thai bank account to set it up though

You've got it right. Rabbit is just for BTS and a few partner shops around the stations. For the MRT, if you don't want another card, the easiest workaround is using a contactless Visa or Mastercard at the gate. I do it all the time on the blue line and it works the same as tapping a card.

The Airport Rail Link is its own thing too. No Rabbit, no MRT card. But here's a tip: if you're going from Phaya Thai to Suvarnabhumi, it's 45 baht and runs every 10-15 minutes. Way cheaper than a Grab, and usually faster during peak traffic. Just buy a token from the machine with cash.

One thing nobody mentioned yet: if you're staying near any MRT station on the blue line, the new extension out to Lak Song and Bang Khae has decent parking at some stations. Might be useful if you're driving in from Chanthaburi and want to park and ride. Tha Phra station has a big lot, about 20 baht for the day.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
