How long should I factor in to find a condo?

I've rented a hotel for the first week, but wondering if I should just extend to two weeks straight away.

I roughly know the area I want to rent in (Asok / Phrom Phong / Thong Lor), have already looked at apartments online. But obviously want to see them in person first.

Additionally, if anyone has a good agent that they've worked with before, please share. Looking to spend around 40-50k.

one week is doable but you'll be rushing and might settle for something meh. two weeks gives you breathing room to see places in the morning and evening to check noise levels and light. for asok/phrom phong/thong lor at 40-50k you're in a good sweet spot, plenty of older but well-maintained buildings like the room or ashton asok that fit that range.

i'd recommend walking the soi you like at different times, some streets like soi 22 or soi 31 get crazy with traffic during rush hour. agents are hit or miss but hipflat or fazwaz are fine for browsing, just contact 2-3 from the listings to see who responds quickest. honestly extending the hotel is worth it, switching hotels mid-search is a pain.

honestly go for two weeks. one week works if you're not picky but at 40-50k in that area you've got options worth taking time on. asok and phrom phong have different feels even a few sois apart

for agents try hipflat's chat feature first, some agents on there are useless but a few actually know the buildings. i had good luck with a guy named jack from nexus property, he showed me like 8 places in one afternoon around thong lor. just dont sign anything day one, sleep on it

also factor in the deposit and key money stuff. some condos ask 2 months deposit plus 1 month advance so have like 150k ready in cash or transfer. that caught me off guard my first time

tbh one week is tight especially if u want to compare places. id extend to two weeks you'll waste less time stressing

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
