Fortunately, I have even been given an apartment close to our office. Unfortunately, it turns out that it is not the cleanest place and I have seen a few cockroaches pushing around the room when I turn on the light. Now I am wondering whether I should consider this unacceptable and look for a new apartment, or whether I should just put up with the critters for the next three months.

There are several street restaurants downstairs so I guess these little crawlers are part of the inventory.

You're in Sathon, so yeah, cockroaches are pretty much part of the deal with those shophouse restaurants downstairs. A few here and there doesn't mean the apartment is dirty, it's just the nature of an older building near food stalls. For a three month stay, I wouldn't bother moving, just buy some sticky traps at the nearest Lotus's or Big C and put them along the baseboards. That'll tell you how bad it really is, and if you're only seeing one or two a week, that's totally normal for that area.

honestly if you're only here three months and already have an apartment in sathon near your office, i'd just deal with it. moving for a short lease is a hassle and you'll prob just end up in a similar situation anyway since most buildings near street food have them. grab some cockroach bait from the 7-11 on sathon soi 1, the one near the BTS exit, it's like 50 baht and works better than spray. also keep your sink drain covered at night and don't leave food out, that's usually enough to keep them from getting too comfortable

A few cockroaches doesn't mean the place is filthy, especially with street food stalls right downstairs on Sathon. Most older buildings in that area deal with them, it's just the climate and the density of restaurants. If you're only here for three months, I'd just grab some gel bait from a 7-Eleven and put it behind the fridge and under the sink, that usually handles the problem without needing to move.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
