Less Ads on MRT vs BTS?

Yeah, the MRT was built later so the stations have cleaner lines and less surface area designed for ads in the first place. Plus I think the MRT's parent company just isn't as aggressive about selling ad space, they focus more on keeping the stations looking modern.

bts runs the skytrain as a private concession so they're way more aggressive with ad revenue, mrt is still state-owned even if operated by private companies so the rules are different. you can see it in the station design too, bts has those big ad frames built into every pillar and wall panel while mrt kept the surfaces clean on purpose. honestly i kinda prefer the mrt for that reason, feels less like walking through a shopping mall

The MRT is owned and operated by a different company than the BTS, so their approach to ad sales is completely separate. BTS is run by Bangkok Mass Transit System, and they've been aggressive about filling every available surface with ads for years, it's a major revenue stream for them. MRT, which is under the Mass Rapid Transit Authority, seems to have stricter rules about what goes up and where, plus they don't have as many station spaces designed with ad frames built in from the start. You'll notice the MRT has been adding more digital screens and wraps on the trains themselves lately, but the stations still feel cleaner overall because they're not plastering ads on the actual platform walls and pillars the way BTS does.

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
