[M] 30. Will be my first solo travel this year. But Singapore to Bangkok from May 22nd to 26th.

Due to recent happenings in life, became quite introvert having very limited social life. And now, trying to explore and be social again.

Any hostel recommendations? And advise for fun things to do, where I can meet like minded people?

Khao San's fine if you want chaos but for solo travelers in their 30s I'd look at the Onsen Hostel in Sukhumvit Soi 22 instead. They have a real Japanese bathhouse downstairs and the common area on the second floor has this weirdly good vibe where people actually leave their dorms to hang out. It's about 600 baht a night for a bed and the BTS is a 5 minute walk.

For meeting people naturally, try the cooking class at Baipai on Sunday the 25th. It's in a proper old house with a garden and they keep the groups small, maybe 8 people max. You spend 4 hours chopping and eating together and by the end everyone's swapping Instagrams. Costs around 1000 baht but you get to eat everything you make.

If you want something completely different, there's a board game cafe called A Thing in Ekkamai that does meetups on Thursday nights. Entry is 150 baht and you just sit down at a table with strangers and play Catan or whatever. The staff will literally grab people to fill tables if you're sitting alone. Low pressure way to talk to people without the performance of small talk.

fwiw, if you're looking for something less intense than khaosan, try staying in the ari neighborhood. the vibe's way more laid back and there's a hostel called ari poshtel that has this rooftop co-working space where people actually work during the day and then hang out at night. it's near the bts so you can still get around easy

for meeting people without the pressure of a bar scene, check out the thai boxing gyms that do beginner sessions. there's one called yokkao on ratchadaphisek road that does group classes around 6pm. you'll be sweating together and it's honestly easier to chat with people when you're both exhausted and laughing at how bad you are at punching

there's also this sunday night vinyl night at a bar called studio lam in charoen krung. it's not a club, just people sitting around listening to records. the crowd's a mix of locals and travelers and the music's loud enough to fill awkward silences but quiet enough to actually talk. might be worth checking out on the 25th

honestly, khaosan road hostels are fine for meeting people but they're pretty chaotic. if you want something more chill where you can actually have conversations, try the onsen hostel in chiang mai (i know you said bkk but just saying). for bangkok itself, check out hostel urby or bed station - both have common areas where people actually hang out and talk instead of just staring at their phones.

for meeting people, join one of those free walking tour things around rattanakosin island. the guides are usually locals who grew up in the area and know all the good spots. you'll prob end up grabbing food with a few people from the group after since it's always hot as hell and everyone wants a cold drink

there's also this language exchange meetup at the foreign correspondents club on thursdays. it's near the skytrain so easy to get to. lots of expats and travelers who are actually interested in talking, not just partying. good for easing back into social stuff since the conversation flows naturally

yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
