honestly you should check out Tawandang's older spots or look for places near Sukhumvit Soi 22/1 area. there's a little spot called Al-Hussain that does amazing karak chai with proper floor seating and cushions, feels like someone's living room. not super instagrammable but the chai is like 40 baht and they'll let you sit for hours. also near Pridi Banomyong there's a couple of hole-in-the-wall places that do the whole floor seating thing with desi decor, more bangladeshi/pakistani vibes than indian but same cozy energy
try the little alley near Nana BTS called Sukhumvit 3/1, there's a place called Shahi Chai that's basically a tiny room with floor mats and pillows, run by a lovely desi aunty. their masala chai is killer and they have these
check out the area around phra khanong, there's a place called chaiyo that does floor seating with those big round cushions. not fancy but the chai is solid and it's real quiet most days
best som tam in Bangkok? Krua Dok Mai Kao 2026
yeah Krua Dok Mai Kao is solid but if you're up for a detour, try Som Tum Nua near Siam Square. their som tam pu pla ra is insane if you like the fermented fish sauce kick. way more pungent than the On Nut spot, just less grilled chicken options
