Best ways to meet people in Seoul 2026

Are there regular meetups or clubs where a newcomer can actually get to know people? I keep hearing about spots like Smoke & Stone but I'm more interested in how people build a social circle there.

the climbing gym crowd in Seongsu is the cheat code, same faces tuesdays and thursdays, and ppl actually grab dinner after

arrow_drop_up 16 arrow_drop_down

Agreed, though I'd add that the Monday and Wednesday morning sessions at the same gym pull a quieter, more regular crowd if evenings feel too packed.

try hangang park bouldering on sundays too, way chiller

honestly the recurring stuff that works is hobby classes, not meetups. I do a Saturday pottery thing in Yeonnam where the same ppl show up every week, and that's how you actually get past small talk. Look on Naver Cafe for clubs near yr neighborhood, not Instagram.

naver cafe is the real one, ppl sleep on it. one thing though, a lot of the good clubs are inactive unless u filter by recent posts, so check the last post date before joining. sunday morning badminton at the gu gym is another one that sticks

gu gym badminton fills up fast, book via gu office site

how to meet people in Seoul over tea in 2026

Seochon, Thursday nights, hanok on Jahamun-ro.

arrow_drop_up 19 arrow_drop_down

Gyeongnidan has a Sunday morning tea circle at a hanok cafe off Hoenamu-ro, mostly grad students, steady for two years.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Mangwon has a couple of teahouses near the market that run monthly puer sessions, but weekly is rare. Honestly the language exchange at a cafe on Wausan-ro does tea and rotates regulars every Tuesday, decent crowd if u don't mind mixed English.

yeah the monthly ones are a hard habit to build. fwiw there's a saturday morning group out of a tiny teahouse off Donggyo-ro that's been going for a while, mostly locals. i can dig up teh name if you want.

The puer crowd skews older so if you want twenties regulars try the Saturday brewing circle at a teahouse on Hongik-ro

yeonnam side too? thought that one was hongdae only

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Monthly puer's still the only regular thing near Mangwon market.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

mixed english is fine by me tbh. does that wausan-ro one run through the holidays or does it break for chuseok and new year? asking cause i'd rather join something that keeps going than restart in spring

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Does that Tuesday thing survive Chuseok and New Year, or does it restart each spring?

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Is that the cafe upstairs from the bakery? Was thinking of going this week but wasn't sure if you need to sign up ahead or just show up
