How to meet people at tea spots in Seoul 2026

fmd_goodCamellia House · #seoul #meetup
i live here and tbh the hardest part is finding something recurring, not a one off tasting. does anyone know of a weekly tea meetup or a class at a place like Camellia House where the same folks show… i live here and tbh the hardest part is finding something recurring, not a one off tasting. does anyone know of a weekly tea meetup or a class at a place like Camellia House where the same folks show up? i'm not looking for a tour, just a regular crowd to sit with

Insadong teahouses, Sunday mornings, same regulars.

Yeah but mornings are dead now, try 4pm

which teahouses exactly? the ones off the main street near Ssamziegil tend to be tourist traffic, not regulars. the smaller spots up the alleys toward Bukchon are where the same faces actually turn up.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

honestly the regulars at those spots skew older and mostly do weekday mornings around 10, not weekends

That tracks. Weekday 10am at Dawon, retiree crowd.

Mostly retired, sure, but the 30s crowd does Maru, Wednesday evenings.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Fair, but the weekday 10am crowd at the smaller Bukchon spots is more 40s freelancers than retirees, so worth a look if u can swing it

Sunday has shifted for a lot of the old crowd to around 2pm at the spots tucked behind Gyeongpo (the alley off Insadong-gil), so try there before writing off the weekend.

The regulars actually shifted to Cha Teul on the north end of Insadong-gil, Tuesday evenings around 7, quieter than the weekend crush.

ask the owner there about the back room, they rent it out for a monthly brewing group that's mostly regulars

Hopworks brewery: worth a visit in 2026?

fmd_goodHopworks · #tours #brewery #pints
Coming through town in spring 2026 and heard Hopworks is a solid brewery stop. Is it worth planning an afternoon around, and do they do tours or just pints? Hopworks is in Mangwon, not the center, so build the trip around that neighborhood rather than a whole afternoon. They do pints and flights but no real tours. Go early evening, then eat around Mangwon Market after.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Agreed on skipping the tour, though Thursday and Friday evenings get loud after 8 so aim earlier. The alley behind the taproom has a decent gopchang place if the market crowds put you off.

Sat nights are worse, aim for a weekday

Worth adding: they close the kitchen early, so pints first then dinner. The 6 bus drops you a block from the taproom if you're coming from Hongdae.

arrow_drop_up 17 arrow_drop_down

Kitchen actually stops food around 9 but they'll keep pouring til close, so eat before you settle in.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

The 6 also stops right by the Mangwon-dong community center, so you can hop off there and walk two minutes.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Fwiw line 6 also runs straight to World Cup Stadium, so you can catch a baseball game before the pints.

Second this, the tiny patio out back is the real draw.

yeah build it around the neighborhood, but swing by mangwon park first since teh taproom's tiny and fills up fast on weekends
