Wildlife Reserve near Seoul: best time to visit in 2026?

Is early morning still the move in 2026, or has the reserve changed its hours? Also curious if the shuttle from the subway station is still running on weekends.

late october is the sweet spot, the rut's on and the elk are loud enough to hear from the trailhead. weekdays after 3pm are dead quiet too if u can swing it.

Image cordelia local ·

elk bugling from the west ridge around dusk too

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Image adelequast local ·

yeah late oct is when the bulls actually start bugling proper, not just the odd practice call in sept. one thing though, the west ridge trail gets muddy after rain so wear boots you dont mind wrecking. u going weekday or weekend?

Image cordelia local ·

thursdays especially, most school groups gone by then

Rut peaks first week of October some years, watch the rut reports.

early mornings still win, gates open 6:30 and the deer are out before the buses arrive. shuttle from the station runs weekends but only every 40 min now, so check the board when u get there. bring binoculars, the rental ones are beat.

Binoculars rental closed, bring your own pair.

Good to know, mine fog up in the cold anyway.

The 6:30 gate matters less than the ticket queue, buy online the night before or you'll lose that window.

Honestly the shuttle's pointless on weekends, take bus 9701 from Yangjae and walk in through the west gate instead.

Best pizza by the slice near Slice & Co in 2026?

Is it actually worth the wait, or should I keep going to the older spot two blocks up? Curious what regulars order there.

The queue looks worse than it is, most people are grabbing the pepperoni square which reheats fast. I go Tue or Wed around 1:30 and walk straight in. The older spot up the street does a solid classic slice but the crust goes soft if it sits, so ask for one from the back rack. For me it's Slice & Co when I want the square, the old place when I want thin.

arrow_drop_up 18 arrow_drop_down

yeah the 1:30 window is real, tue especially

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image lenard local ·

back rack tip is gold, works every time

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

1:30 works but tue is when the school crowd hits right after, so i aim for wed. also worth knowing the square sells out by 2 on rainy days, nobody wants to walk.

Pepperoni square's the move, but go before noon on weekends since they only pull two trays from the back.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Image elrike local ·

Wednesday beats Tuesday for me too, and the back rack trick works best right when they restock around 12:40.

Agree on the back rack, though I'd add that the old place slices thinner than it used to, so a fresh one matters more now. Ask what time they pull the late afternoon tray, it's usually around 4:30 and that's when the crust is best.

fwiw the older spot up the block does a solid margherita and they dont rush u out. i usually grab a plain slice there and eat it standing, saves the queue stress. cash only tho, forgot that once.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

They take card now, started in March.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

honestly i'd skip both on fridays, kitchen gets slammed and quality dips. the garlic knot slice at the place by the subway exit is my sleeper pick. ask for it fresh out of teh oven.
