Is 18,000 won normal for a meal in Hongdae 2026?

That seems steep for one plate, is that actually the going rate in 2026 or am I being quoted tourist prices? I'd rather know before I sit down somewhere.

Gongcha aside, 12,000 won is more typical.

12k is right for the lunch sets and the student places around Hongik Univ station. But a proper sit-down dinner with meat or a few banchan sides does creep toward 15 to 18k now, prices went up. Depends what u actually order.

yeah 12k gets u a solid bowl of gukbap or a lunch set but dinner portions are smaller than they look so budget closer to 15

only if u order samgyeopsal for two

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Solo diners get charged per portion, not per person.

Best early morning coffee near Daybreak Cafe Seoul 2026

Anyone know if Daybreak Cafe still opens at 7am on weekdays? I'm usually around Mapo-gu before work and need a decent flat white that early. Tried a couple spots on the same street but they don't open… Anyone know if Daybreak Cafe still opens at 7am on weekdays? There's a small roastery called Ssen on the Mapo backstreets off Dongmak-ro that pulls a solid flat white from 7:30, cash only though. If you're truly stuck before then, the 24-hour Paris Baguette on World Cup buk-ro does an okay americano, not a flat white.

Ssen's flat white is solid but they don't do takeaway cups, so bring your own if you're rushing.

Daybreak's weekday 7am open still holds, but the flat white at Coffee Libre's World Cup-ro branch beats it, and they open at 7:30.

Agreed on Coffee Libre, though the World Cup-ro queue after 7:30 can eat ten minutes, so I'd get there right at open.
