Turns out, the interactive exhibits were surprisingly engaging! We spent hours building virtual palaces and learning about Korean calligraphy in a way that felt more like playtime than a lesson. But...the cafe. Oh, god. The cafe was a total disaster. Long lines, limited options, and the coffee tasted like sadness. My question is: Are there any secret, local spots near the museum with better snacks and drinks for exhausted adults accompanying highly-stimulated children?

walk past the museum toward the gyeongbokgung side, there's this old-school bakery called nappunje on the corner of the main road. they've been there forever, it's like a 3 min walk from the museum exit. grab their cream cheese bread and some of their cold barley tea, it's cheap and the line moves fast. way better vibe than that cafe nightmare, plus you can sit outside when the weather's nice

Head toward Samcheong-dong, it's like a ten minute walk through the park from the museum. There's this little cafe with a rooftop that does amazing iced matcha and these walnut-shaped cakes called hoddeok that are way better than anything in that museum line.

honestly just walk toward gyeongbokgung station exit 4, there's a tiny tteokbokki place tucked in the alley that nobody tourists know about. They have these amazing rice drinks and fried dumplings that are way better than anything in that sad museum cafe.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
