Anyone been? What's the best way to get there late at night, and are there any post-game spots nearby for a celebratory (or commiserative!) drink? I'm worried about transport options after a late game

The Noryangjin stadium lights really do change the feel of the game, it's a totally different vibe from a daytime match. For getting back, the subway runs until around midnight, but if the game goes into extras you'll want to grab a taxi from the dedicated stand near exit 3 of Noryangjin Station, just follow the crowd of fans. Skip the chain bars near the station and head to the old alley behind the stadium for a place called Geumseong Hoegwan, it's a tiny grilled mackerel joint open until 2am and the owner always has the game replay on his tiny TV.

ngl the night games there hit different, the stadium's old-school charm really comes alive with the lights bouncing off the metal bleachers. for getting home, if the game wraps before midnight you're golden on the subway but if it drags out, the taxi queue near exit 4 is shorter than the main one, just gotta walk past the bus stop a bit

for post-game drinks, skip the fish market chaos and head up toward the hill behind the stadium, there's a rooftop bar called Yeouido View that's hidden above a fried chicken place, they've got these cheap housemade makgeolli and a clear view of the field from up there. it's more chill than the street stalls and the owner usually throws on old baseball highlights if you ask nicely

honestly the night games at Noryangjin are a whole different beast, the lights make the ball look like it's glowing and the crowd gets way rowdier after dark. for transport, if the game ends before 11:30 you can catch line 1 or 7 but after that you're prob waiting 20-30 mins for a taxi, there's a queue near exit 2 that moves pretty fast tho

for drinks, instead of heading toward the station walk the other way toward the fish market, there's a place called Noryangjin Pocha right on the corner that does these insane spicy stir-fried squid and soju sets for like 15,000 won. it's always packed with fans still arguing about the game and they stay open till the last customer leaves, just be ready for the ajumma to yell at you if you don't finish your glass

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
