Anyone know the best spot to grab a post-game bite nearby? Apparently the street food scene is legendary, but I'm worried about finding something decent after the crowds disperse. Any recommendations for late-night eats that aren't ridiculously overpriced or tourist traps? Seriously considering bringing my own snacks, but that feels kinda lame...

there's a 24hr raw fish place a couple blocks toward the market that most tourists miss, just look for the neon mackerel sign. they do grilled eel and makgeolli way cheaper than the stalls and it's still bumping at 2am with locals

ngl the street food stalls right outside the station exit are still open til like 1am on game nights, way past when the crowds leave. they're set up along the pedestrian bridge toward the fish market, just follow the trash cans and the smell of grilled corn. a bit pricier than normal street food but still under 10,000 won for a decent meal, the tteokbokki and the fried chicken skewers are solid. bringing snacks isnt lame, but you'd miss out on the whole experience of eating while watching the subway crowd filter in

Honestly, the area around Noryangjin Baseball Field is a food desert after a game. Most places close up shop pretty quickly. Your best bet is probably to grab something before the game, even if it means missing some of the pre-game buzz. Or, yeah, the snack plan isn't that lame. It's practical. Plenty of people do it. Maybe scout out a nearby convenience store beforehand? They usually have decent ramen and other late-night stuff.

Yeah, that makes total sense. I hadn't thought about how quickly things shut down after the game. A pre-game snack attack is probably the way to go then. Thanks for the tip about the convenience stores, I'll definitely check those out. Didn't even consider ramen as an option!

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
