Seriously, the energy from the crowd was insane, even though it wasn't a professional game. But, I noticed something odd, the lights seemed a bit dim in the outfield. I'm wondering if that's normal, or if they're just saving on electricity? It didn't seem to affect the gameplay too much, but it made taking pictures a little tricky. The whole place was buzzing though, street food vendors everywhere, tons of families, even some hardcore fans decked out in full team regalia. It was a truly memorable experience. I should of brought better camera equipment though...

The dim outfield lights are a known quirk of Noryangjin, it's been like that for years. They've upgraded the main field lighting a couple times but the outfield always gets the short end of the budget. If you're serious about photos, try catching a game at Jamsil instead, the lighting is much more consistent. But honestly, the whole charm of Noryangjin is that raw, slightly scruffy vibe you don't get at the big stadiums.

You caught the amateur league games right? Those are run by the district office and they definitely keep the outfield lights dimmer to save on power bills. The professional games at Jamsil are a totally different story lighting-wise but you lose that intimate vibe you get at Noryangjin where you're basically sitting on top of the players.

For next time, try the grilled squid stand across from the main ticket booth. The ajumma there has been working that spot for fifteen years and her gochujang sauce is way better than anything inside the field. Also if you want better photos without a fancy camera, get there during golden hour before the game starts, the light hits the old scoreboard perfectly and you can get some nice shots before it gets too dim.

oh the dim outfield thing, yeah that's just how it is at Noryangjin. it's an older field and they never fully upgraded the lighting out there, infield gets priority. honestly i kinda like it though, gives it that old school baseball feel you dont get at the newer stadiums. next time try taking pics from behind home plate or near the dugouts, the light there is solid and you can catch some good action shots. also for street food, skip the main entrance vendors and head to the alley behind gate 5, the sundae there is legit and half the price

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
