It's outdoors, right? Do they just cancel shows, or is there some kind of ingenious backup plan? I'm picturing a frantic scramble for tarps if it starts pouring...or worse, everyone scrambling for cover mid-scene... that would be a story! Seriously though, any insights on how they navigate unexpected downpours would be great. I really don't want my trip to be rained out!

fwiw theres a little trick i use - buy a cheap clear umbrella from the gs25 right by the entrance before u even check the weather. if it doesnt rain u just look prepared and if it does youre golden. the real issue isnt even the stage, its the wind off the han river thatll flip your umbrella inside out in seconds, those clear vinyl ones hold up better than the foldable ones. the show itself usually keeps going unless theres thunder, theyve got a pretty solid drainage system on the stage floor so puddles dont really form

yeah they usually don't cancel unless it's a proper downpour or lightning in the area. the stage has a roof over it and the first few rows are covered too, so light rain isn't a big deal. i've been to a show there where it drizzled the whole time and everyone just pulled out hoods or those clear vinyl umbrellas you see everywhere in seoul. honestly the vibe was kind of nice, water reflecting the stage lights and all that. worst case they'll announce a postponement on their instagram or naver page same day, so just check that before you head over

been going to nodeulseom for years and the key is just checking the kma forecast hourly before u head out. the theatre's naver page updates show status by like 4pm if there's any doubt. worst case scenario you just hop over to the cafe under the bridge for a makgeolli and watch the rain hit the han river instead, still a solid evening

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
