The atmosphere was electric, seriously, even though it wasn't a huge game. But I noticed something weird, during the seventh inning stretch, everyone seemed to be looking towards the outfield wall, not at the field. Like, some kind of unspoken thing. Anyone know what's up with that? Is there some local tradition I missed? I felt super out of the loop. It was amazing regardless, though

It's not a ghost thing or a sunset thing, it's a snack thing. There's a guy who sets up a little tteokbokki cart just outside the outfield wall on game days, and around the 7th inning he starts ringing a bell. Regulars know the timing and glance over to see if the line's short enough to run down and grab a cup before the game ends. If you look closely you'll see a few people actually get up and head for the exit ramp around then.

That's the Mok-dong sunset thing, not a ghost story. The outfield wall faces west, and on clear summer evenings around the 7th inning the sun dips right behind the scoreboard, creating this orange glare that makes it hard to see home plate. Regulars all turn to watch the light show for a minute, it's kind of a shared moment. You'll see the same thing happen at Jamsil during late afternoon games if the timing's right.

Probably some kind of local superstition or inside joke. People do weird stuff at baseball games everywhere. Maybe someone always throws a lucky charm over the wall in the 7th, or there's a legendary cat that hangs out there? You'd have to ask someone who's a regular at Mok-dong games. It's definitely not something easily Googled. Next time, maybe try chatting with the person next to you, you could make a new friend!

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
