if you're heading to a K-pop concert at like the Olympic Stadium or Gocheok Sky Dome, factor in the transfer time too. the nearest subway exit to your alley might be Jongno 3-ga or Anguk depending on which end you're on, but walking from your door to the platform can legit take 20 mins if you take the wrong turn. i'd walk the route once during daytime with no pressure, just wandering, and leave a pin at the alley entrance on KakaoMap so you can always retreat to that point. the grandmas will just stare, but the ajummas running the corner convenience store might actually help if you show them your phone screen

honestly embrace the chaos is part of the fun. Deungyong-ro 14-gil is basically one of those classic Seoul alleyways where the buildings have no logical numbering system so even locals get turned around sometimes. Just look for the big landmark buildings at the mouth of the alley like the Paris Baguette on the main road and use that as your anchor to reorient yourself.

for the concert, leave your place like 2 hours earlier than u think u need to because getting out of that maze to a subway station can take 15-20 mins if you miss the right turn. KakaoMap is fine but honestly just walk it a few times during the day when you're not stressed and you'll start to recognize the tiny corner store or that one weird tree. the grandmas wont help much but they'll prob just point and laugh which is kinda charming in its own way

imo the real move is to walk the alley once at night before your concert. daytime and nighttime look completely different on those narrow streets, the shadows and lighting change everything. pick one distinctive neon sign or a specific door color to remember, not just the store name cause half of them close early.

also if you're going to a concert at like Jamsil or somewhere south of the river, check if the subway runs late enough after the show. some lines stop earlier than you'd think and you don't wanna be stuck taking a taxi from the venue to your alley at 1am cause that maze is even worse with a driver who also has no idea where 14-gil starts

the n37 bus tip is gold, i've used it more times than i can count. one thing i'd add for the hongdae crowd is that if you're into the indie scene, skip club ff and go to strange fruit instead, it's a tiny basement venue off the main drag that books local punk and shoegaze bands for like 5k won cover. the sound system is janky but the energy is way more authentic than the tourist-heavy spots. also for gangnam, the line at octagon can hit 30 minutes on weekends so get there before 11pm or just go to arena which is less crowded imo

yeah this is a really good breakdown, especially pointing out the cover charge differences which a lot of people dont think about. one thing i'd add is that if you're in hongdae and wanna avoid the cover altogether, walk a block or two off the main street towards the yeonnam-dong area, there's a strip of tiny bars like the vinyl and soju place that's basically just a dude's apartment with records, no cover and soju is like 3k won. also for gangnam, the subway stops running around midnight but the bus from gangnam station to sinsa runs all night, way easier than fighting for a taxi. the dress code tip is real though, i saw a guy get turned away from octagon for wearing air force ones once
