Apparently, they hold these crazy, cryptic rituals involving... well, I'm not sure. All I know is that they leave these bizarre, almost poetic, messages around campus. Think cryptic clues scattered in the library stacks, written in code on the old stone walls near the chapel. They say initiation is brutal. Anyone know anything about this? I'm already picturing myself accidentally stumbling into one of their meetings. Could be a fun semester...or my last.

there's a guy who runs a late-night poetry zine out of the basement print shop near the back gate, he leaves typed pages in random spots around campus with these weird little haikus about the subway line. i think some freshmen mistook that for a secret society one year and the rumor just stuck. the real hidden gem at sogang is the 24-hour convenience store across from the R building, they sell these insane cheese-filled hotteok that no one talks about but everyone knows about. if you want a real mystery, try figuring out why the elevator in the arrupe building always stops on floor 3.5 even though it doesnt exist

honestly the only real "secret" thing at sogang is how good the gopchang jeongol is at the little place behind the main gate, it's barely marked and always packed with locals. the cryptic messages thing sounds like someone's creative writing project that got out of hand, happens sometimes when lit majors get bored. if you want actual weird campus lore, ask about the abandoned observatory on the old science building roof, heard it's been locked since the 90s but people still try to get up there

The secret society stuff is mostly an urban legend that gets passed around to new students. What you're probably hearing about is the "Sogang Ghost" thing from a few years back, someone left riddles on the notice boards near the Jesuit residence for a couple months. It was just a creative writing student testing out their skills, no initiation or hidden meetings involved. If you want actual campus intrigue, check out the late night performances at the R building auditorium, the theater club puts on some wild shows that feel more secretive than they actually are.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
