It was surprisingly empty, even for a weekday. The grass was kinda patchy, and there was this weird, almost unsettling quiet. It felt like the field had seen better days...or maybe worse. I found a half-buried baseball card under the bench, a really old one, from the 80s. The atmosphere was just...off. I'm wondering, does anyone know the history of Noryangjin field? Are there any local legends or stories connected to it? Maybe some old game that ended mysteriously or something? It left me with a strange feeling.

so the sandy soil thing is legit, my uncle worked construction around noryangjin in the 80s and said they basically paved over the old stream that ran through there. thats why the drainage is terrible, the field gets muddy for days after even light rain. honestly the creepy quiet might just be because nobody wants to play on a field thats half gravel and half mud. the card is probably from some kid who lost it during a game, 80s cards were everywhere back then. if you want the real story tho, ask the old guy who runs the fried chicken place across the street, hes been there since the 90s and knows everything about that block

The sandy soil thing makes sense if you look at how they built that area. A lot of Noryangjin got filled in with construction debris back then, not just from the market fire but from the subway line 1 extension work. If you want the real weird history, ask any ajumma selling fish at the market about the "baseball ghost" rumor from the late 80s. They'll either laugh or get real quiet. Either way, check that card for a 1986 MBC Chungyong player, those are harder to find but the local card shop in Dongjak-gu would know for sure.

huh, that's wild. i grew up near noryangjin and my dad always said that field was built over an old market that burned down in the late 70s. never heard any ghost stories but the soil there is weirdly sandy, like they just dumped dirt on top of concrete. maybe check if that card is a 1982 ob bears player, those are worth something if it's in decent shape

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
