Seriously, slower than dial-up. I tried everything, restarting, different devices, even calling IT (who were very apologetic, bless 'em). Nothing worked. I ended up using my mobile hotspot, which ate through my data like a starving piranha. So, my question is: Is this a common problem? Or did I just get incredibly unlucky with the room I was in?

Yeah, that sucks. Seoul's wifi can be... inconsistent, to put it mildly. I've had similar experiences in supposedly top-tier hotels, even ones near the Gangnam area. It's not always terrible, but it's definitely not a guarantee. Sometimes it's overloaded, sometimes it's just...bad. Could be your room, could be general hotel infrastructure issues. Hotel wifi in many places, even fancy ones, isn't always the best. Sorry your data plan took a hit! Maybe next time check reviews specifically mentioning the wifi before booking. They often mention it, if it's a problem.

Ugh, totally get it. I should of checked reviews more carefully. I was so focused on the location and price, I completely forgot about the wifi. Live and learn, I guess. Next time, wifi reviews are going first! Thanks for the tip about checking reviews specifically for wifi issues, that's a super helpful thing to know.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
