I've seen pictures, but they all look pretty similar online. Anyone who's been there recently, can you recommend a trail with awesome views and maybe some less crowded spots? I'm hoping to avoid the super touristy areas if possible. I'm all about that peaceful nature vibe.

the trail from beodeunamu-gil is my hidden gem. it starts near the hanyangdoseong section and follows the old fortress wall, super quiet even on weekends. the path is narrow and shaded, then opens up at a small pavilion with a bench where you can see the tower but feel miles away from the noise. takes about 30 mins to that spot and the mossy stones give it a proper old seoul feel

if you go up from the myeongdong side near the cable car entrance, take the right fork just past the first rest area. most people follow the main paved path but that smaller dirt trail loops around the back of the mountain and pops out near the beacon hill overlook. it's maybe 5-10 mins longer but you get the skyline without the crowds, especially on a weekday morning

that library trail someone mentioned is solid but ngl my favorite quiet route starts from the hanyang university seoul campus side. go up past the dorms and you'll hit this old stone staircase that locals use for morning exercise, barely any tourists. the stairs are steep but the payoff is this ridge line where you can see the whole city spread out with the han river curving through it. takes about 25 mins to reach the beacon hill area and theres a tiny temple tucked in the trees if you want to sit for a bit

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
