The energy was electric, even on a weekday. Kids were practicing, older guys were playing a casual game, and the whole place buzzed with this incredible passion for the sport. I watched a team practicing some seriously impressive slides into base, I mean, these guys were practically flying! But, I noticed something odd. Every single person there, no matter how young or old, seemed to be carrying a small, almost identical, red pouch. What's in those pouches?! Are they lucky charms, snacks, or something else entirely? I'm dying to know!

nah its not sunflower seeds, those red pouches are actually for a traditional korean good luck charm called bokjumeoni. you see them a lot at baseball games in korea, esp at noryangjin since its right by the river where people go to make wishes. they usually contain a mix of rice, coins, and a little handwritten note for good fortune. some people keep them on them all season long, especially if their team is on a winning streak.

The red pouches are definitely bokjumeoni, but they're not just for baseball. Noryangjin has a long history as a spot where people come to cast wishes into the river, especially during the first full moon of the lunar year. The little notes inside usually have specific requests for health or wealth, and the coins are meant to "pay" for the wish to come true. If you see someone with a particularly faded or worn pouch, they've probably been carrying it for years.

it's actually a mix of both the luck thing and practicality at this point. the red pouches are called bokjumeoni and they used to be strictly for new year's money but the baseball crowd adopted them. if you go to the convenience store right outside exit 2 of noryangjin station they sell them pre-filled with a tiny mirror and a comb alongside the coins, it's kind of a whole thing now. the players i've seen keep their phone in there because the pockets on the uniforms are shallow and they don't want their stuff flying out when they slide

Adventure Park jobs in Seoul 2026: what do they pay?

What does an hourly wage there actually come to after tax, and can anyone realistically cover rent and living costs in Seoul on it? I'd like to hear from people who've done a season rather than the job posting figures.

The 4대보험 hit is real but the bigger issue is hours getting cut in the rainy stretch of 장마, so your monthly total swings a lot. I'd ask current staff about the actual shift schedule before signing, not the posted rate.

장마 shifts get cut first, ask about 우천 대체 근무

for real, and the rainy day shifts they swap you into are usually shorter, so ask how many actual hours a week you'd get

Adventure Park runs on short seasonal contracts, so expect around minimum wage (10,320 won in 2025, maybe 10,500 in 2026) minus 4대보험, which drops your take-home more than people think. On that, a deposit-heavy Seoul rent is a stretch unless you share a place or live out near the park.

yeah but short contracts mean no severance either
