The energy was electric, even though it wasn't a pro game. The thing is, I saw this weird, almost hidden staircase near the outfield...it led to nowhere obvious. It was kinda creepy, actually. Anyone know what's up with that? Is it some old access point or something? Or just a really well-hidden escape route for disgruntled fans?

It's probably one of the old broadcast camera platforms. Back when KBO games were filmed there before Jamsil took over, they had these raised platforms for the TV crews that ran along the outfield wall. Most were dismantled but a few of the concrete bases and stairwells got left behind when they patched things up. If you go during a weekday when the stadium's empty, you can spot a few other odd concrete stubs near the foul poles that don't connect to anything either.

The staircase might be tied to the old pedestrian overpass that used to connect the stadium to the nearby Mokdong ice rink. They tore down the bridge years ago when they redid the crosswalks on the main road, but the stadium-side access point was never fully removed. If you walk around the outfield wall on the Omokgyo side, you can see some faded paint marks on the concrete where the bridge used to attach. The ice rink itself has a few weird structural remnants too, like a ramp that dead-ends into a storage closet.

That staircase is actually part of the old service tunnel network from when Mokdong Stadium was first built in the late 80s. It used to connect to a media press area that got walled off during the 2002 World Cup renovations. The city never bothered to fully demolish it, so it just sits there. I've seen a few groundskeeper storage sheds tucked into similar spots around the concourse if you look closely.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
