Best shoes for this pitch?

My ankles are still protesting. Seriously considering switching to rugby boots next time. Anyone else had similar experiences? What footwear did you find worked best?

honestly the hangang turf is just concrete with green paint at this point. i switched to adidas copa mundials after rolling my ankle there twice, the kangaroo leather molds to your foot and gives way better control on that hard surface. also try going up a half size and wearing two pairs of socks, the extra cushioning helps a ton on that pitch. those lightweight synthetic boots are straight up dangerous there

you know what, i think the real issue is that everyone's wearing football boots designed for actual grass. that hangang pitch is basically a rubber mat over concrete, so you need something with shorter, bladed studs that dont dig in too deep. i switched to a pair of new balance turfs with the little rubber nubs all over the sole and it was like playing on a cloud compared to before. theyre not flashy but your ankles will thank you. if you're near hongdae, the soccer shop on the corner of wausan-ro has a discount bin with last season's models for like 40k won

ngl i just wear my regular indoor football shoes there now. the ground is so hard that studs just make it worse imo. i grabbed a pair of puma king ultimate indoors from the adidas outlet near gangnam station and they work way better for that surface, no ankle pain at all. just be careful on the turns cause the rubber can slip a bit on the dew in the morning

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
