Anyone up for a Michelin-starred restaurant tomorrow evening? :)

No preference on gender or age, thinking around 250k KRW per person. Planning to hit a speakeasy bar after dinner.

if you want something a bit more relaxed but still michelin, try naeu in gangnam. their lunch is around 150k but dinner is closer to 200k and they do a really good korean-french fusion thing. after that, head to bar cham in sinsa-dong, it's a tiny spot behind a bookshelf door and their sool-based cocktails are perfect for ending the night

oh man happy birthday! if you're okay going a bit north, jungsik is incredible and the tasting menu is around 240-260k. the view of gangnam from their window seats is nice too. after dinner you can hit alice in the underground in apgujeong, its hidden in a basement and the whole vibe is super moody

honestly if you havent been to mingles yet that'd be my pick for 250k. the tasting menu is around that and its prob the best value michelin spot in seoul rn. after dinner you could walk over to pongdang in hakdong for drinks, its a tiny speakeasy but the owner used to work at some fancy cocktail bars in hongdae

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
