Depends on the stream and the specific area in Seoul. Generally, Seoul is pretty safe, but late at night, anywhere can get dicey. Check for well-lit paths and maybe stick to busier areas.

That dark sauce? Probably doenjang jjigae, but a seriously concentrated version. It's a fermented soybean paste stew – incredibly pungent and strong. Most people probably find it too intense as a side dish, especially after already having rich galbi. It's more of a main course thing. Nothing weird about it being untouched; it's just not for everyone! Next time, maybe try a tiny bit with some rice... if you're brave.

Oh, wow, doenjang jjigae! That makes total sense. I should have guessed, it was so intense. I figured it was some kind of fermented thing, the smell was unbelievable. Thanks for the explanation, I'll definitely try it with rice next time... maybe just a spoonful though, haha! I’m not sure my stomach could handle a whole bowl after the galbi.
