Emergency service price is too high?

I just visited emergency room for just a small thing. I wanted to take plan b after having accidents on bed.

It took me 100.000 KRW for a very mini pill. It is still acceptable because I don't have to have baby now.

However, I am feeling that our healthcare system is meeting a lot of problems. Take my situation as an example, I wasted at least 2-3 hours to take a pill, but this pill is just effective when take in in 72h after s3x. And, my situation is simple, but I have to pay 100.000 KRW for that. So I am wondering, if with difficult cases that related to life and death, does this system work smoothly?

Additionally, I had a short term living in Vietnam, which is poorer than Korea. But I can take an emergency contraceptive pill easily with cheap price at pharmacy store. At that time, I got food poisoning and had to meet emergency doctor. Yes having some money for that but it is really cheap.

In my opinion, I think we need to improve our emergency system.

ngl the real issue isnt even the price, its that korea treats plan b like some hardcore controlled substance when its literally just a hormone pill. you can buy it over the counter in most of southeast asia for like 5 bucks. here you gotta see a doctor first which is just a money grab by the system

but for actual emergencies like heart attacks or car accidents the big hospitals are pretty solid. the problem is they use the same system for everything so minor stuff gets overcharged and overcomplicated. if you just need plan b again, try the pharmacy in gangnam near exit 4 of gangnam station, theyre known for being chill about it. or just stock up next time you travel

honestly, the er prices here are rough for minor stuff. if you're near itaewon or hongdae, some of the smaller clinics (의원) will do plan b consults for way less, like 20-30k won, and you're in and out in 20 mins. the big hospitals (대학병원) always add that triage wait and facility fee.

the system works for emergencies but not for "i need a quick pill" situations. vietnam's pharmacy system is more flexible but korea's strict about prescription meds, which keeps things safe but slow. next time just hit up a 산부인과 near you, they know the drill and won't charge er rates.

yeah the er is overkill for plan b honestly. next time just go to a pharmacy and ask for it, they'll usually sell it without a prescription if you say you're in a rush, costs like 5-10k won

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
