Should I travel now?

I have a flight on Friday to Seoul. Do you think it is safe to visit right now? I have a flight on Friday to Seoul. Do you think it is safe to visit right now?

You'll be fine, just pay attention to what's actually happening rather than the headlines. The protests are very organized and peaceful, and most of the city is completely unaffected. If you're staying in places like Itaewon or Seongsu, you won't notice anything different except maybe some restaurant staff being a bit more chatty since it's quieter than usual. The only real annoyance is that some of the smaller shops in Jongno have been closing early, so plan your evenings accordingly.

honestly it depends what part of seoul you're planning to stay in. if you're near hongdae or gangnam things are pretty normal, just some extra police around. the protests are mostly concentrated around gwanghwamun and yeouido so avoid those areas after dark and you'll be fine. i was in myeongdong yesterday and it was business as usual, just fewer tourists than normal

yeah you'll be fine, just check the subway schedules before heading out since some stations near city hall have been closing earlier than usual. the airport express train is still running normal though. if you're nervous, stick to the areas south of the han river like jamsil or apgujeong where nothing really happens. also download the emergency alert app just in case but you probably won't need it

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
