I am wondering if anyone could share their experiences and the cost of the service at those places or other recommendations for getting balayage? Thanks

i've done balayage at soomsiki and it was around 180,000 won for long hair, that was a few years back though so might be different now. the stylist there was good with color but i felt like they rushed the consultation a bit. if you're open to another spot, try chahong in gangnam, they're pricier like 250,000+ but super precise with the technique and they actually explain the process in english if needed. just book ahead since they fill up fast especially with tourists

soomsiki is prob still around that 180k mark for balayage, i went there back in february and it was 190k for my shoulder-length hair. the vibe is pretty fast-paced tbh, they're efficient but don't expect a long consultation. if you want something more relaxed, i'd rec elbon the hair in hongdae instead, it's a smaller salon but the stylist there is super patient and did a really natural balayage for me at 170k. just make sure to bring reference pics and be clear about what you want since they'll default to a more subtle look unless you ask for something bolder

honestly i went to the days in hongdae for balayage last year and it was about 190,000 won for medium length. the result was nice but the salon felt a bit cramped and they didn't really talk through the process much before starting. if you want something more chill, try jangmi hair in sinchon, it's like 150,000-170,000 and the stylists are super friendly even with the language barrier, just show them a photo

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
