Does Apple Store in Korea not offer student discounts?

She asked the store assistant if she could get a student discount, but they told her there's no student discount available. Instead, they offered her a 5% discount. Does Korea not have a student discount program for Apple products? Or is there a different process to use? I would appreciate any insights! 🙏

yeah korea doesn't have the official apple education pricing like in the us or some other countries. instead they do that 5% discount for students, which is basically the same thing just under a different name. your sister should ask for the '교육 할인' next time or just buy online through the apple korea education store, it's the same 5% off for macs and sometimes a free airpods or gift card during back-to-school season. also check if her university has a partnership with apple directly, some schools like yonsei or korea uni have their own discount portal

honestly the 5% is basically it, but theres a catch. that 5% is on the regular price, not the already discounted price if you buy from like, a third party reseller. check out places like 다나와 or coupang, sometimes they have macbooks for way cheaper than the apple store even with the 5% off. i got my m2 air last year for like 200,000원 less than the apple education price.

also if shes a university student, some campuses have their own apple stores or authorized resellers inside the student center. those sometimes stack a tiny extra discount or throw in a case. worth asking around at the school itself before pulling the trigger.

The 5% discount is indeed the standard "education pricing" here, but it's worth noting that this is only available for in-store purchases if they verify student status through an app called OK Cashbag or a school email. Your sister might have missed that verification step, which is why the staff just offered a flat 5% without asking for proof.

Another thing is that the education discount doesn't apply to everything. It works on MacBooks and iPads, but not on accessories like AirPods or cases unless there's a promotion running. If she's buying a MacBook, she should check the Apple Education Store website directly and use her .ac.kr email to see the exact price with the 5% off applied automatically, no need to ask in person.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
