Large Protest or Event today in Seoul. What is it about?

There are South Korean and USA flags everywhere, music and thousands of people near Sejong-Daero and Jong-ro. There are South Korean and USA flags everywhere, music and thousands of people near Sejong-Daero and Jong-ro.

oh yeah that's the ROK-US alliance festival, happens every year around this time. it's more of a celebration than a protest, they do a big parade down sejong-daero and set up booths with food and military stuff. the music is prob from the korean army band or some k-pop acts they bring in. if you stick around til evening they usually have a small fireworks show near gwanghwamun square

it's the ROK-US alliance festival, not a protest. they usually have reenactments and military bands, pretty cool if you're into that vibe. if you want a quieter spot, head to insadong instead, it gets packed around there

yeah it's not a protest it's the annual ROK-US alliance day thing. they bring out some military vehicles for display and there's usually free food samples from the american army base, like hot dogs and stuff. it's pretty chill, more of a fair vibe than anything political

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
