Korean people were (weirdly) super friendly to me?

Hello! So last week i just got back from Korea. It was amazing, although there are lack of halal food for muslim and some people randomly gave me brochure and asked me to convert to Christianity.

What actually baffle me was how Korean seemly super friendly? To the point i was shocked because i never get that kind of treatment in other countries i travelled in.

One, in Busan beach (idk the name of the beach but it is in front of a hotel) there are few ahjummas that waves to me, and asked to get picture with me.

In Gwangjang market, when me and my friends sat down in a food stand, some random guys approached and sit in one big bench where I sat and flooding me with questions. I couldn't understand a bit what they say so i just said "sorry i can't speak Korean" repeatedly. Later, one of them gave me free food to eat.

In Namsan Tower, also some random guys (much younger) approached me and asked where do i came from while complimenting my hair.

In Dongdaemun, when i walk alone (split with my friends cuz i needed to buy something ) there's random guy that was trying to sniff me. I startled, and he start mumbling in korean. I only remembered that cuz I ran away...

I'm not saying I'm a catch, i don't think I'm that pretty or maybe i have unsolved insecurities. But truthfully those were the first time locals treat me like that. I watch some videos on tiktok saying that korean are rude, especially the men but I don't get that kind of treatment while i was there. What's the explanation to the local's behaviour? I'm not white; I'm from Southeast Asia, and I dyed my hair auburn.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
