Protests around Gwanghwamun?

Will be staying in Jongno near Gwanghwamun at the end of November... will the protests impact my ability to get around? Will be staying in Jongno near Gwanghwamun at the end of November... will the protests impact my ability to get around?

honestly the protests are pretty routine around there, usually just crowds chanting with signs and a heavy police presence. the subway station itself might have one exit blocked off but you can still get through the others fine. if you're walking from Gwanghwamun to Insadong or Cheonggyecheon, just cut through the side streets near the Kyobo bookstore and you'll bypass everything. the traffic on Sejong-daero can get messy if it's a big one, but for a weekend in late November it'll prob be a smaller rally anyway

late november isnt usually peak protest season in seoul, more like scattered small groups. if you're near gwanghwamun, the main disruption is sometimes the bus routes get rerouted along jongno instead of sejong-daero, so just check naver map for realtime bus info. honestly the bigger annoyance can be the police buses parked everywhere blocking the view of the palace from the square, but you can still walk through to anguk station or insadong just fine

Yeah, there's almost always something going on at Gwanghwamun Square, but it's usually pretty contained. You'll be fine getting around, just might have to walk around a crowd or take a different subway exit.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
