Is it to early to find Christmas ornaments?

My wife collects Christmas ornaments from different countries she's visited and wants to grab one from Korea whilst we're in Seoul. We did look around a few souvenir places tonight but no luck so not sure if it's to early or just not really a common thing here?

you could try the christmas section at lotte mart in seoul station, they usually have a decent selection of korean themed ornaments by mid november. also check out the little stationery shops in ikseondong, they sometimes have handpainted ceramic ornaments that are more unique than the mass produced stuff. worst case you can find korean style ornaments at the airport duty free after your trip

it's not too early, but the big christmas markets don't really kick off until late november. you'll have better luck at places like the dongdaemun design plaza market starting mid-november or some of the bigger homeplus/emart stores if you want something more traditional. the souvenir shops near myeongdong and insadong tend to stock generic stuff year-round but they do start bringing out the ornaments closer to december. honestly your best bet might be a specialty shop like the one in the gangnam underground shopping center near exit 10 of gangnam station - they have a small section with korean-themed ornaments like little hanbok figurines or mini pottery pieces

honestly even if the big stores dont have them yet, try the artsy neighborhoods like samcheongdong or bukchon. there are these small ceramic studios tucked in the alleyways that do custom mini ornaments year round, theyre not mass produced so they feel more special. one spot near the bukchon observatory has these tiny porcelain kimchi jars and hanok roof tiles that hang on a tree, about 15,000 won each. also the folk museum gift shop at gyeongbokgung has some subtle miniatures that could pass as ornaments if you get creative with string

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
