When Does Seoul Decorate For Christmas 2024?

I am going to Seoul Tomorow and will be there till November 14th. Do they decorate right after Halloween, or only around December 1st? I would love to see the Christmas lights and trees! yeah you're cutting it close but not totally out of luck. the big department stores in gangnam like the Hyundai near samseong station start their window displays around nov 10-12, i saw them testing lights last year on the 11th. the actual tree in front of the store goes up later but the windows are worth a look. also the street trees along garosu-gil in sinsa usually get wrapped with fairy lights by mid november, not a full christmas setup but cozy enough

lotte world mall starts setting up pretty early, i walked past last year around nov 10 and they already had some lights up. myeongdong is hit or miss before the 15th but you'll probably see some strings going up. seoul square by city hall usually waits until december for the big tree, so don't bank on that one. if you want guaranteed christmas vibes, check out the COEX mall library, they do their winter installation way earlier

a couple of the big hotels in jongno start early too, the westin chosun usually has something up in their lobby by the second week of november. not exactly street lights but if you're near seoul plaza anyway it's worth popping in. also the dongdaemun design plaza does a light projection thing that's more wintery than christmasy, starts around late november so you might catch the setup

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
