Best time of year to visit?

Young adventurous couple looking forward to spending a week in Seoul next year. What is the best time to visit? Young adventurous couple looking forward to spending a week in Seoul next year. What is the best time to visit?

early april is peak cherry blossom chaos but honestly late march is underrated. the trees are just starting to bud along the han river bike path from yeouido to seonyudo and there's this quiet magic before the crowds show up. you can rent a tandem bike from the stalls near the park for like 5k won an hour and the air still has that chill that makes hotteok from street vendors taste extra good. just watch out for the sudden pollen if either of you has allergies

Late September is my pick for a young couple. The summer heat finally breaks and you get these perfect 20C days for exploring without breaking a sweat. Gyeongbokgung in the golden hour light around 5pm is something else, and you can rent hanbok from the shops near Anguk Station for cheap. Plus the Seoul Lantern Festival along Cheonggyecheon starts around then, worth a lazy evening stroll with some tteokbokki from the carts.

mid-october is probably the sweet spot for you two. the air is crisp, the han river parks are perfect for biking without sweating, and you can actually sit outside for street food in places like mangwon market without freezing or melting. plus the autumn foliage at namsan tower or bukhansan is stunning and way less crowded than cherry blossom season. just bring a light jacket and you're golden

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
