How long is the immigration process at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and quickest way to get to Gimpo Airport to Jeju Island in Oct 2024?

What's the fastest / best way to get from ICN to Gimpo? Thanks!

another thing nobody mentioned: check if you're landing at T1 or T2 before you even pack. if it's T2, the AREX station is right there, no shuttle needed, but the walk from the arrival gate to the train platform is like 15 min by itself. also, the 4:20am arrival means you'll hit the first batch of airport buses, the 6008 might be running but the first one usually leaves around 5am, so timing's iffy.

skip the express train honestly, the all-stop is fine at that hour since the express doesn't even start running until 6am on some days. you'll be waiting on the platform either way. the real cheat is the airport limousine bus 6008 if it shows up first, door to door to gimpo domestic, no tunnel walk, no second security line. but it's a gamble on schedule, so have the train as backup.

fog at gimpo in october is real, but it's usually a delay not a cancel, so your 7:40 might push to 8:15 anyway. if you're checking a bag, just book the 9am, the jeju flights are basically a bus service, no reason to stress over one departure. also, the domestic terminal at gimpo has a convenience store near the gates, grab a kimbap there instead of the overpriced cafe, you'll thank me later.

You're cutting it close but it's not impossible. The wildcard isn't immigration, it's bag delivery. At 4:20am there are usually only a few widebody arrivals, so bags can take 20 minutes just because the belt is slow, not because it's crowded. If you're carry-on only, you're golden. If not, I'd book the next Jeju flight out, the 8:30 or 9am ones are the same price anyway and you'll actually enjoy a coffee instead of sprinting.

For the transfer, the AREX express is the only sane choice at that hour. The all-stop train from T1 to Gimpo is about 50 minutes and you'll be stuck with drowsy commuters, the express gets you there in 40. One thing people forget: Gimpo's domestic terminal is a separate building from the international one, so after you get off the train you've got a 10 minute walk through a tunnel and another security screening. That's on top of your 20 minute buffer, so you're really looking at landing at 6:15 and needing to be at the gate by 7:10.

October fog is a real thing at Gimpo in the morning, but it usually burns off by 8am, so the 7:40 flight is more likely to be delayed than cancelled. That works in your favor if you're late, but it also means the airport could be backed up.

The AREX is your best move, no question. But check if your flight lands at T1 or T2 first, if it's T2 you gotta grab the free shuttle to T1 before the train, that eats 10-15 min. Also, Gimpo's domestic terminal has a separate security line, so even after the train you're not at the gate, you gotta go through again. I'd say you can make it if you're carry-on only and haul ass, but honestly the 8:30 Jeju flight is way less stress, those are cheap and frequent anyway

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
