My landlord gave me the bill for electricity but it had an overdue amount from the previous months. Should I pay?

And since it's overdue they restricted my power supply. I'm obviously gonna pay for the last month but should I also pay for the previous months too? Is this normal in korea? My landlord is an old lady and i've just started learning korean so I don't wanna confront her about it straight away. Do I ask my friend to translate and ask about the bill?

nah this is not normal. even if it was your mistake the power company cant just restrict supply over a previous tenant's bill, they'd usually send warnings first. sounds like the landlord might've just forwarded the whole bill without checking or the name wasn't changed to yours yet.

ask your friend to help you call the electricity company (한국전력 or whatever local office) with the contract number. you can also check the bill itself for the dates and account name. if your name isn't on the overdue part, you're not responsible for it

don't pay the old amount yet. pay only your month and tell the landlord through your friend that the overdue part belongs to the previous tenant. if she insists, ask her to provide proof of when you moved in like the lease start date. most landlords here understand this, she might just not realize the bill was mixed up

honestly this is a pretty common mixup with older landlords here who just hand over whatever bill shows up. the electricity account transfer should've been done through your lease contract - check if your name is actually on the bill itself, not just the address

you can look up the account number on the 한국전력 사이버지점 app to see the billing history. it'll show when the overdue charges started and whether they're under your name or not. if it's not your name, that's not your debt

pay your portion only and ask your friend to help you visit the local 한전 office with your lease contract. they can split the bill and reconnect your power same day usually. the landlord prob just doesnt know how the system works, not trying to scam you

yeah this is definitely not your problem to pay. the key thing here is that the electricity account should've been switched to your name when you moved in. the landlord or the previous tenant was supposed to handle that transfer through 한국전력. if it's still under the old tenant's name, the overdue amount is theirs not yours

ask your friend to help you call 한전 at 123 with your contract number and move-in date. they'll tell you exactly what's owed under your name vs the old account. in my experience they're pretty helpful and can even send someone to reconnect if you explain the situation

the landlord might just be old and confused about how the billing works. a lot of older landlords here just forward whatever bill comes in without checking. get your friend to explain it to her calmly and she'll prob understand. just don't pay anything that's not in your name

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
