Good friends of mine have two children and they are in 1st and 5th grade.

They are in Korea atm, but will move to the States next year and their parents are looking to hire a tutor who can help them with assignments from their current international school as well as teaching them materials they will learn next year in the States.

They prefer an exchange student from an English-speaking country and attending Ivy league schools(preferred not required).

They also need someone who has experience in tutoring and who can organize and teach American curriculum to help them prepare for their transfer to an US school.

A student of Yonsei is preferred due to commute routes but also isn't a requirement.

How would I go about finding candidates that match this description? The hourly pay will be above average.

Is there a forum, discord group, or something where I can post this position?

Thx in advance.

honestly the best bet is posting on the 외국인 커뮤니티 pages like "Seoul Foreigners" on Facebook or the "Seoul Moms" group - tons of Yonsei exchange students lurk there looking for tutoring gigs. the pay being above average will get u attention fast, just be specific about the hourly rate in the post

also worth reaching out to the international school itself, some of them have a bulletin board or a parent-run kakao chat where tutors get shared around. if its one of the big ones like SFS or KIS they prob have a list of recommended tutors already

for the American curriculum prep specifically, id look for someone who's actually done the US system rather than just any english speaker. a lot of the exchange students from ivy leagues are on a semester or year program and they get bored, so theyre open to extra work. just check they have a valid visa for tutoring, some student visas technically dont allow it

if theyre in yongsan or near sinchon, theres a yonsei foreign student housing area where people post flyers for tutoring gigs. actually saw one on a board near the back gate last week, might be worth printing something and sticking it up there.

another option is the korean expat parenting forums on naver, they have sections for education where parents swap tutor contacts. your friends might need a korean speaker to navigate it, but the leads are solid since a lot of those tutors have experience bridging US and Korean curricula

for the ivy league angle, theres a facebook group called "Ivy League in Korea" or something similar, mostly alumni and current students who network there. posting with the pay range upfront will get bites fast, those students are usually looking to pad their time here with cash gigs

yeah this gets asked every damn week in the foreigner fb groups. just hop on "Seoul E-Tutor" or "Tutor Connect Korea" on kakao, those are the main spots for this kind of thing. post the exact pay upfront or people will ignore it.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
