Visiting Seoul on vacation and am having trouble trying to figure out where it's permitted to fish the Han River? West side of Seoul is going to be my locale.

Not asking for secret spots, just want to behave like a decent angler in a foreign country and follow the rules. Any tips are also greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The easiest way to check is the Seoul city fishing zone map online, but if you're west side near Mangwon or Hapjeong, look for the concrete platforms built off the riverside parks. You'll need a 낚시허가, which is about 5,000 won for a day pass from any nearby district office or even some convenience stores near the river. The current is no joke after rain, so stick to the calmer spots near the bridge pillars if you're not used to it.

yeah so fishing the han is legal in designated zones but u need a 낚시허가 (fishing permit) from the district office - it's like 5,000 won for a day pass. most of the west side by the 합정 or 망원 area has those concrete fishing platforms, just look for the signs that say 낚시금지 where it's banned

locals stick to the areas near the bridges, especially around the 합정 bridge on the north side. u can rent gear at a spot called 낚시천국 near 합정 station for pretty cheap. one thing nobody mentions - the current can be real strong after heavy rain so check the water levels before u head out. the carp and catfish are decent this time of year

Just check the Seoul city website for the fishing zone map, it's got all the legal spots marked in green. Certain areas near the World Cup Park are catch and release only.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
