Can anyone recommend any art schools or programs that teach or host figure classes? This is not the typical fashion modeling. Figure models pose for long periods of time while artist draw them. Back in America I did this for university art departments and would love to do the same thing while in South Korea!

It's not common here compared to the US but it does exist. Hongik University's art department sometimes hires models through word of mouth, and there's a small studio near Hongdae called Drawing Space that runs open figure sessions on Tuesday nights. You might also check with the Seoul Art Center in Seocho-gu, they have life drawing classes that occasionally look for models. I'd recommend stopping by those places in person with a simple portfolio just to introduce yourself.

Another option is to reach out to foreign artist communities in Seoul. There's a group called the Seoul Artists Collective that meets at various spots around Itaewon and Hannam-dong, and they've done life drawing nights in the past. You can find them on Facebook or just ask at cafes like The Baked in Hannam, the owners are plugged into that scene. The pay here for figure modeling is usually around 20,000 to 30,000 won per hour, so it's not a huge moneymaker but the sessions tend to be small and personal.

Yeah there are a few private ateliers in the Jongno area near the art district that sometimes look for models, and the Seoul National University College of Fine Arts has a life drawing program that might work. You could try messaging their student clubs on Instagram or just showing up to their open studio hours, that's how most people get connected here.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
