Are there events for the public on Armed Forces Day?

If not, is there anything holiday specific to do? Thanks! 😊

honestly the public events for armed forces day are pretty spread out across the city, not just one parade. the air force does a flyover near yeouido around 10am and you can see the black eagles team from the park if the weather's good. if u want something different, the military usually sets up a small exhibition at seoul plaza with tanks and helicopters you can actually climb into, it's free and way less crowded than the main parade route

Armed Forces Day (Gukgunui Nal) on October 1st usually includes the big parade near Seoul Station or along Yongsan area, and it's open to the public. You can just show up along the route to watch the military bands and vehicles roll by. If you want something more low-key, the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan often has special exhibits or free entry that day, and it's a solid alternative if the parade crowds aren't your thing.

yeah october 1st is armed forces day and they do the big parade along yulgok-ro past the war memorial, it's totally open to the public. if you're near gangnam instead of yongsan, the korean army often sets up small demo booths at coex or even at the seoul lan cable car plaza on namsan, just check the district office site for exact times. the parade is cool but gets packed quick so get there by 9am if u want a spot near the front

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
