I'll be staying in an Airbnb for my entire trip in seoul and I'd love to give my host a little goody bag. I'm thinking of buying a reusable tote bag from Trader Joe's and maybe some snacks from there as well. I heard Koreans really like hot cheetos but I don't know what else to get I'm not a very snacky person. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

hot cheetos are kinda a meme gift here tbh, people try them once for the novelty. if ur host is older or a bit traditional, go with something like a nice box of yakgwa or hangwa from a shop in Insadong, it reads as more thoughtful than american junk food. a tote is a solid call tho, they get reused for grocery runs at emart

skip the snacks tbh, the thing my host actually flipped over was a pack of those thick fuzzy socks from costco, the kind koreans buy in bulk for guests anyway. seoul apartments have heated floors (ondol) so everyone walks around in socks at home and they wear out fast. a tote plus 5 pairs of cozy socks costs like 15 bucks and gets used daily, way more than a bag of chips. if u want one food item, get a small bottle of real maple syrup, thats genuinely hard to find cheap here and people go nuts for it on yogurt

Trader Joe's stuff is fine but Seoul has plenty of that vibe already. Maybe just grab something local from a market instead.

Cash mostly, some take Cigna. Consult ~50,000 won.

tbh the 50k figure is on the low side for a derm, more like 70 to 90k once they do anything beyond talking. Also worth knowing: clinics here bill you upfront and hand you an itemized receipt, so you claim it back from your insurer yourself rather than them billing direct.

some bill direct if u have the card on u

Also bring your passport, they won't scan a foreign card without it.

Worth adding that even card-taking places often want won in hand for the first visit, so pull 100,000 from an ATM beforehand.

Mostly agree, but add the 10% VAT on top.

For a stubborn skin thing skip the big hospitals and look at a 피부과 in Apgujeong or Sinsa, most have one English speaking doc. Weekend slots fill up so call ahead. Bring your meds list, they'll ask.
